Despite being one of the smaller districts of Istanbul in terms of both population and area, it is an area where the connection roads of the 15 July Martyrs Bridge and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, which connect the two continents and the two sides of Istanbul, its late Ottoman architecture works, the Bosphorus slopes, universities with various departments and faculties, and business centers on the Levent-Maslak line cause the daytime population to increase several times compared to the census population.
Especially the neighborhoods of Levent, Etiler, and Bebek serve as examples of modern urbanization. The existing buildings are generally of reinforced concrete and masonry construction, with very few historic wooden masonry buildings.
The population of the Beşiktaş district is 169,022.
