Our district of Avcılar is surrounded by the Küçükçekmece Lake and Küçükçekmece District to the east, Esenyurt and Beylikdüzü Districts to the west, Başakşehir District to the north, and the Sea of Marmara to the south, covering an area of approximately 4,185 hectares, or 42 million m². Our district is 27 km away from Istanbul; the TEM highway and the E-5 (D-100) highway pass through the district boundaries. Industry in Avcılar has also developed and grown rapidly, with numerous industrial establishments. There are fuel filling facilities and a thermal power plant generating electricity to the west of Ambarlı. There are industrial facilities on both sides of Firuzköy Road. The presence of the E-5 highway in the Avcılar district has brought significant activity to the district. The large area occupied by Istanbul University on the right side of the E-5 highway has contributed to the cultural and economic development of Avcılar. The Avcılar district has 10 neighborhoods. The population of our district is 437,221.
